Dr Mylonas' involvement in the field of fish farming started with his undergraduate studies in Aquaculture (B.Sc.), at Texas A&M University, USA, with the intention of finding employment in the marine aquaculture industry. With the decision of continuing his education, he studied the application of pharmacological methods for the induction of ovulation in salmonids and the effect of the treatment on egg quality (M.Sc.) at North Carolina State University, USA. Remaining in the academia, Dr Mylonas studied the reproductive endocrinology of fishes and the use of controlled-release delivery systems for gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist (GnRHa), in the induction of ovulation and enhancement of sperm production in cultured fishes (Ph.D.) at the University of Maryland, USA. Dr Mylonas has published 110 scientific articles in ISI-indexed journals (H-index 26) and he is the author of five book chapters and the editor of a book on Sparidae biology and aquaculture. H εμπλοκή του Δρ. Μυλωνά στον τομέα της εκτροφής ψαριών ξεκίνησε με πτυχιακές σπουδές στην Yδατοκαλλιέργεια (B.Sc.) στο Texas A&M University, USA, με σκοπό την δραστηριοποίηση του στην βιομηχανία της ιχθυοκαλλιέργειας. Aποφασίζοντας να συνεχίσει τις σπουδές του, μελέτησε την εφαρμογή φαρμακολογικών μεθόδων για την πρόκληση ωοτοκίας στα σολομοειδή και τις επιπτώσεις που μπορούν να έχουν στην ποιότητα των αυγών (M.Sc.) στο North Carolina State University, USA. Παραμένοντας στην ακαδημία, μελέτησε την ενδοκρινολογία της αναπαραγωγής των ιχθύων και τη χρήση εμφυτευμάτων ελεγχόμενης απελευθέρωσης γοναδοεκλυτίνης (gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist, GnRHa) στην πρόκληση ωοτοκίας και αύξηση της παραγωγής σπέρματος σε καλλιεργούμενα είδη (Ph.D.) στο University of Maryland, USA. Maria Papadaki studied Biology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She continued her education in Heraklion, where she obtained a master’s degree in “Management of Marine and Land-Living Resources”. During the master’s studies she examined sex differentiation of sea bass and the role sex steroid hormones play in this procedure. Since 2001 she has been working as a lab technician in the Reproduction and Physiology laboratory of the Institute of Marine Biology, Biotechnology and Aquaculture of the Hellenic Center for Marine Research, where she performs histological and hormonal analyses.

Eirini Sigelaki studied Aquaculture at the Technological Institute of Mesolonghi. After a training period in the Institute of Marine Biology of Crete, she decided to get involved with the field of fish farming. Starting in 2000, she worked with live feed and since 2001 she is responsible for broodstock management in the Institute of Marine Biology, Biotechnology and Aquaculture of the Hellenic Center for Marine Research. Other than broodstock management, she is involved in egg and sperm quality assessment and spawning induction experiments.
Η Ειρήνη Συγγελάκη σπούδασε Υδατοκαλλιέργειες στο Τ.Ε.Ι. Μεσολογγίου. Έπειτα από πρακτική άσκηση στο Ινστιτούτο Θαλάσσιας Βιολογίας Κρήτης, αποφάσισε να ασχοληθεί με τον τομέα της εκτροφής ψαριών. Ξεκινώντας λοιπόν από το 2000, ασχολήθηκε με τη ζωντανή τροφή και από το 2001 και μετά είναι υπεύθυνη για τη διαχείριση των γεννητόρων στο Ινστιτούτο Θαλλάσιας Βιολογίας, Βιοτεχνολογίας και Υδατοκαλλλιεργειών του Ελληνικού Κέντρου Θαλασσίων Ερευνών. Yannis Fakriadis studied Environmental Sciences at the University of Aegean and he obtained his master degree in “Management of Terrestrial and Marine Resources” at the University of Crete. During his master’s studies he examined the sex differentiation of sharpsnout seabream (Diplodus puntazzo) and the reproductive biology, spawning and spermiation induction of shi drum (Umbrina cirrοsa). Then, he joined the team of KEGO SA (and then Nireus SA) working in the broodstock management of the breeding selection program of gilthead seabream and European seabass. Since 2014, he took over the management of the DIVERSIFY project (7FP, GA602131), while at the same time he is doing his PhD in the reproductive biology of greater amberjack (Seriola dumerili). Currently he is working in the project MAGIATIKO funded by the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (ESPA, Aquaculture.

Κατά τη διάρκεια των μεταπτυχιακών του σπουδών ασχολήθηκε με τη διαφοροποίηση του φύλου στο μυτάκι (Diplodus puntazzo) και η διπλωματική του αφορούσε την μελέτη του ετήσιου αναπαραγωγικού κύκλου, την πρόκληση ωοτοκίας και σπερμίασης στο μυλοκόπι (Umbrina cirrοsa).
